With more than 30 years of experience, Pat has a strong background in government payer compliance and regulations as well as government and third-party payer enrollment and credentialing issues. Her current focus is education and training of the documentation and principles of transitioning from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM for ICDExpert.net. Pat is a certified professional coder (CPC) accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and a certified AAPC professional medical coding curriculum instructor of the principles of CPT and diagnosis coding (CPC-I). Pat is also an AHIMA and AAPC approved trainer in the principles of ICD-10-CM.

Pat has been with VEI Consulting (previously Indianapolis Medical Management) since 2004. Previously, she held consulting, billing, coding, benefits and accounting positions with Newby Consulting, Patern Medical Services, Kroger Company and Kmart Corporation.

Pat represents physicians and their practices on local government and third-party payer committees, exposing IMM to cutting-edge information and communicating physician concerns. She currently is involved in the CMS Provider Outreach Educational Advisory Group (POE-AG), Anthem/Wellpoint Participating Provider Advisory Committee (PPAC), IHIMA ICD-10 Task Force, AHIMA ICD-10 speaker and ambassador, as well as past member of the CMS Region V Beneficiary Committee (BAC). Public speaking engagements include the Indiana State Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, St. Vincent’s Primary Physician Network, American Academy of Professional Coders local chapters, National Government Services, Inc., and various educational speaking venues for physicians, retired military officers and senior citizen groups.

She has served as chairwoman for the Susan G. Komen Foundation “Pink Ribbon Celebration” for six years, celebrating breast cancer survivors and their caregivers, and is currently a board member for Executive Women in Healthcare.
